The Internet affects the enjoyment and protection of rights in today’s digital world. This program intends to inform human rights activists, journalists and individuals about the existing internet-related policies and regulations and its impact on freedom of expression.

LIRAD implements the program as follows:

  • Capacity building workshops on Digital Rights Protection and Advocacy in Nigeria
  • Media literacy Project: LIRAD uses social and other media platforms to keep citizens informed and create awareness for possible action on legislative/policy issues, where such information will be useful towards exercising their right to enjoy Internet Freedom.

As part of our advocacy work, we educate citizens on the implication  of the  Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill known as the “Social Media Bill,” which seeks to curtail and manage freedom of expression offline and online in Nigeria by providing for extreme punitive measures on the exercise of the right to freedom of expression in Nigeria.
